Although she is an all-round photographer, aerial photography is her remarkable and unique specialty. Mirande graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and directly after completing her studies, she won the Professional Photography award.
In 2001 she founded Horus Photography, named for the Egyptian god of the heavens and the sky. Her working method is characterized by thorough preparation, 100% dedication and a big dose of creativity.
Mirande's aerial photography work is represented nationally by the Hollandse Hoogte Agency (Dutch Heights) and internationally by the Altitude Agency of Yann Arthus Bertrand, which is based in Paris. The Beeldend Gesproken Art Gallery in Amsterdam is her representative and her postcards are published by Art Unlimited.
Horus carries out assignments for clients as diverse as the Urban Planning for Regional Development Amsterdam, the Noord/Zuidlijn Projectbureau, the Amsterdam Historical Museum, Spits daily newspaper, the Royal Dutch Touring Club travel magazine ANWB Reizen and various care-providing institutions.
Mirande exhibits regularly at the Beeldend Gesproken gallery in Amsterdam. In 2008 she also exhibited in the Rotterdam Photo Museum and during 2007 in the Amsterdam Historical Museum. She won first prize in the Pillar project 'Dragers van kunst' (Patrons of Art), a combined initiative of the Beeldend Gesproken Gallery, Ymere Housing Corporation, the Amsterdam city district 'Oud West' and the DOCK Foundation.
The government photobook with aerial shots of the North/South Line won the Municipal Council of Amsterdam bi-annual house-style prize. In 2008 Mirande also scored a world first with her 4 x 6 meter aerial photos displayed on outside walls of apartment buildings in Amsterdam.
Mirande can be hired, via Horus, for a wide range of assignments such as: aerial photography, calendars, illustrations for websites and annual reports, portraits, book covers and wall decorations. In short: contact her for anything for which a visual creative approach is a 'must'.
